THE BCS ROCKS

The first BCS Poll of the 2009 Season was announced on 10/20/2009. With the BCS comes all the drama. Many of you out there disagree with the rankings. Some feel that your team should be higher. Some complain that your conference is underated and that your team is not getting enough respect. Others complain of a West Coast Bias. These debates will go on every year. Some feel a playoff system would solve this problem. Even our Commander in Chief wants to put together a Committe to investigate and come up with a solution.

A playoff is move in a new direction of other issues. Suppose we had a eight team playoff. Teams number 9 and 10 would complain. Also some fans may complain that their respective team is strong conference.

There is no solution, but you must admit, College Football is exciting. It's the only sport which every game counts with each week featuring a key game with Championship and Bowl Ramifications.

NFL AND WONDERLIC SCORES (Guess Which position has the highest score)

The NFL gives rookies the Wonderlic Test at the Combines. Its percieved by many that the Qb have the highest scores. According to Wikepedia, the Offensive Tackles have the highest scores. Below are the average scores by position:

I normaly dis people but I will not single out a low scorer. One player scored a 6 out of 50. This same player told the media that the scores doesnt mean anything. The only score that counts was the Rose Bowl score of 41-38. This player plays for the Titans. The highest ever is Kevin Curtis Wr of the Eagles. He scored a 48 out of 50.

LONG BEACH FIGHT NIGHT-3

Have you ever gone to a Fight or Major Sporting Event and experienced the following:

Non-Stop action at a low price with free parking
Many Free-Give Aways from its sponsors
The opportunity to talk with Ring Card Girls before entering the arena
The opportunity to meet the fighters

If you have gone to the Long Beach Fight Night on Sunday, July the 19th you would have experienced this and more.

Over 2500 attended this exciting event. Many of you only attend events, which headline famous fighters or stars. There were no famous fighter, but these fighters fought with a lot passion and desire. I have been to many boxing and fighting events which hosted 12 fights. To be honest, many of those fights were boring and I often watched main events that didn't measure up to the hype. This wasn't the case at the Long Beach Fight Night. I am like many sports. I like to drink beer and eat during sporting events. They didn't serve beer but it didn't matter because the fights were too great to walk away from my seat because I didn't want to miss any of the action.

My only complaint to the Promoters is the expression used in their flyers "Nose Bleed Seats". People who sat in that area saw a great show and was also close to the action . There was no bad place to sit.

All of these fighters, fought with a lot of intensity. All of the fighters were great but three fighters by the name of Kengo "The Japanese Assassin" Ura, Illiams "Ewee" Goglia, and Maurice "Syko" Eazle. Stood out by my opinion.


Kengo "The Japanese Assassin" Uru	Kengo was the "Fighter of the Night". He faced a very faced opponent by the name of Anthony "Venom" Smith, which I thought was the "Fight of the Night" Anthony showed so much speed in his punches that I thought Kengo was going to loose. While Anthony threw some fast comos, Kengo countered with three quick solid punches with one to the jaw which that put Anthony on the Canvas. If they two were to fight again, the outcome may different. Either way, it would be another great action-packed fight.
Illiams "Ewee "Goglia	Illiams, who is a Heavyweight took out his opponent in the first round. It was a heart-filled victory. Because in his speech to the fans. Illiams thanked everyone and explained how he just won a bought with Cancer. I don't know the criteria for the Fighter of the Night but many may have thought that Illiams should have been picked.
Maurice "Syko" Eazel	Maurice is a local guy from Lakewood. You could tell by the crowd response. He gave them a great show. I don't know how he got the nickname "Syko", but I think they should call him "Mighty Mouse" because of the power this demonstrated. He slammed his opponent who was about a foot and half taller about three hard times. Its appeared that he threw his partner above his own head. I give respect to the other fighter, Josh for being able to get up after the first throw. That showed one great martial arts ability that is taunt before you spar and start training. "The ability to fall and withstand being thrown" The average man would not have gotten up.

I was impressed by the following schools for sending such great fighters:

IFL RING CARD GIRLS INTERVIEW & Brock Lessner Video

UFC 100 was one of the biggest ever. It ended with some contraversy. My apologies to my hard core MMA fans, but I think the MMA need a bad guy, drama and controversy. Many casual fans and boxing purist, and WWE are now drawn to see what happens next for Lessner. Below is a video of Brock dissing a major UFC sponsor. "That guy rocks"

Ssports MVP Player for 2008-09 Season

In the 2008-2009 season, Kobe Bryant and Labron James dominated the headlines. Many of you wanted to see a Bryant vs. James NBA finals. Unfortunately, that my not happen anytime soon. Congrats to the following players: MVP: Labron James, NBA Most Improved: Danny Granger with Devin Harris getting a lot of votes, Rookie of the Year: Derick Rose, and NBA Scoring Leader: Dwayne Wade.

I will give you my opinions on some of these awards.

MY CHOICE FOR MVP-Dwayne Wade

One award I partially agree with is the MVP award. If the MVP selection was based on the entire season including the Playoffs, Kobe would be the MVP hands down. If I were one of the voters I would elected Dwayne Wade as the NBA MVP. Listen to my Podcast to find out why (Sorry fellow Laker fans).

NBA most improved player-Nene

MOST IMPROVED PLAYER- Nene’ (My Choice)

This is one of my favorite awards. It’s a break out season for most new players. It shows a trend of more great years to come. Danny Granger won the award. I personally thought, it should have gone to Nene’ of the Nuggets. He played a key factor in the Nuggets success. He improved in every statistical category. One notable category was scoring. In the 2007-2008 season, he averaged 5 points a game. He more than doubled that output by averaging 14.1 Points a game during the 2008-2009 season.

ROOKIE OF THE YEAR-Derrick Rose

I agree with the NBA’s decision. Rose was ready to be a star day one. In discussions of top PG, many overlook Rose and say he is a great rookie. I disagree, I personally think he is already one of the top PG. Next year he should be an Elite PG. This award is a great predicator of future success. Team of the Year

There is so much much to talk about regarding the 2008-2009 NBA season that we have to do it two parts. In this Episdoe we will only recap the Teams and in the next part we will focus on the players.

When we look back at the 2008-2009 we will remember the Champion Los Angeles Lakers. Most of us will forget about second place. At Ssports Radio, we will focus on the other teams and and even loosers. We will cover the following: Biggest Loosers and Winners, The Biggest Blowout of the Year and The Cleveland Cavaliers.

BEATDOWN OF THE YEAR

Who would expect the Beatdown of the year would occur during the playoffs against one of the best PG in league who was also the MVP runner up the following year. http://www.sportsfangoods.com/nuggets-annihilate-hornets-121-63-biggest-blowout-in-playoff-history/. In this game The Nuggest took a Half time lead of 61-39. With a lead like that you would think the Hornets would have came out after half-time with avenges. They only scored 11 points in the third quarter. Chris Paul was shout down and the final score was 12- to 63.

CLEVELAND CAVALIERS
The Cavs finished the season wiht 66 wins and Labron won his first MVP award. He sort of earned his spot to the Hall of Fame and the Kobe and Labron comparisons began. Some even began to start comparing him to Kobe. They cruised through the playoffs by winning the first two series before facing Orlando in the Eastern Conference Championship where they were embarrassed and a storied season was erased. The Cav organization is now in panic control making rash decsions to make them a NBA champion next year.
